The School

Al-Ameen College is an independent College catering to the growing Muslim community of Western Australia. The College is a co-educational K-12 college with a strong focus on academic achievement and the promotion of Islamic ethos and discipline. The school is in a strong financial position with growing enrolments, with expansion into a new campus in 2025. The Position

Reporting to the Governing Body of Al-Ameen College, the Business Manager will join a high functioning Executive team and will play a key role in the strategic direction of the school with specific responsibility for the leadership of business processes across strategy, financial and capital planning, administration, grounds and maintenance, human resources, canteen and the uniform shop.

The Business Manager will provide financial leadership and guidance, overseeing all financial aspects, including financial reporting, budgeting and cash management to support the mission and objectives, with an emphasis on providing support and empowering the existing team to promote professional development and growth. The school has an exciting capital works program scheduled in line with their facilities expansion strategic plan, consisting of the construction of the new campus in Malaga to meet their 10-year growth plan of enrolling 2,630 students by 2027-28 into the new campus.

The College is in a strong financial position with high student demand and growing enrolments. The key areas of focus for the Business Manager will include driving the new Master Plan, the construction of the new campus to cater for enrolment growth and delivering the new Strategic Plan in conjunction with the Principal and the Executive Team. 

Key Selection Criteria

  • An articulate, dedicated professional with demonstrated financial and business acumen and keen to influence the next phase of the school’s growth.
  • Demonstrated leadership of a broad remit. 
  • Experience in executing the financial strategy including capital program management. 
  • Proven strategic financial planning and analysis, data analysis, problem-solving, and decision-making skills to support senior management/Board with short, medium and long-term decision making.
  • Extensive financial accounting and reporting experience including leading engagement with financial auditors.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing finance-related policies, procedures and plans to improve financial outcomes.
  • Demonstrated supervisory and team engagement experience in a culturally diverse environment, with an ability to coach and mentor staff, to prioritise workloads and to lead teams to deliver on challenging objectives in a timely manner and on budget.
  • High level of interpersonal and consultation skills with demonstrated effective visual and oral communication skills including the ability to build strong connections and relationships with key stakeholders internally and externally.
  • Experience developing comprehensive written documentation and reports, including policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and driving financial systems and change management processes in a large organisation.
  • You are not an undischarged bankrupt under the Bankruptcy Act 1966.
  • You have not been banned from ASIC or a court from managing corporations under the Corporations Act 2001.
  • You have not been convicted of various dishonesty-related offences, such as fraud.

Additional Requirements

  • A degree qualification in Business, Economics or Accounting, and Post-Graduate qualification as a CPA, CA, MBA or international equivalent. 
  • Experience working as a Business Manager or Chief Financial Officer for a complex organisation.
  • Appointment to this role will be subject to a satisfactory Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC) and a Working With Children Check (WWC).
